Success
The Order of Julian of Norwich is a monastic order of monks and nuns of the Episcopal Church and aims to renew the spiritual life of the church in prayer, contemplation, and intercession in the spirit of Blessed Julian of Norwich. Located in a farm-like setting on the western edge of the City of Waukesha, the local order has committed itself to sustainability in many aspects of daily life, including growing much of their own food, living as energy efficiently as possible and investing in renewable energy. By installing solar energy on the chapel roof, the Order strives to encourage other small non-profit organizations interested in similar investments in renewable energy. The Order also made energy efficiency improvements to their facility prior to installing the renewable energy system, which allows the 6.53-kW system to provide about 50 percent of the Order's annual energy use.
