  • A typical residential customer will receive about $13 to $14.
  • No action is required. Credits will be applied automatically to customers' bills

We Energies electric customers will receive more than $32 million in automatic bill credits this fall, thanks to lower-than-expected fuel costs. A typical residential customer will receive a credit of about $13 to $14, depending on electricity use.

Credits will be based on electricity used in October and will appear automatically on customers’ October or November bills, based on their billing cycle.

How the fuel cost adjustment works

Electric rates include an estimate of the fuel costs needed to generate electricity. When actual fuel costs are lower than the amount approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, customers receive the difference as a bill credit. Fuel costs in 2025 were lower than projected, resulting in this credit.

Bill credit breakdown

Residential customers will receive a credit of about 2 cents per kilowatt-hour for electricity used in October. For example, a residential customer who uses 660 kilowatt-hours during the month will receive a credit of approximately $13.60.

For Budget Billing customers, the credit will be included in the next account review comparing actual cost to estimated cost.

Energy for Tomorrow customers will receive the credit to the portion of their electricity bill that is not supplied by the Energy for Tomorrow program.
