Troubleshooting
Rarely does our control device cause air conditioner problems. Try the following before calling us.
If your air conditioner (AC) is not working:
- See if We Energies is controlling your AC.
- Go to cycling forecast
- If we turned off your AC, your fan continues to run and your compressor resumes operation when the event ends. AC is never turned off longer than your cycling option allows.
- Programmable thermostat customers: If the word SAVINGS is not showing on your thermostat screen, we are not controlling your AC.
- Outside switch customers: If there are no lights lit on your outside switch, your We Energies switch is not controlling your AC. It is normal for one or more lights to be lit on your outside control box at all times.
What the lights indicate
Make sure that your AC is on and in cooling mode:
- Check to see if the thermostat is set properly.
- If the temperature is set higher than the current room temperature, your AC will not work.
- Make sure your thermostat is set to COOL or AUTO.
- For information on adjusting your Honeywell/Cooper Power thermostat, go to Honeywell Thermostat Manual.
- Check the circuit breaker or fuse for your unit.
- Your AC should be wired to a separate circuit protected by a circuit breaker or fuse in your electric service panel (fuse or breaker box). These devices contain high voltage and can be dangerous. If you are unsure about resetting breakers or replacing fuses, contact an electrician or AC contractor.
Contact a qualified AC contractor
If your AC does not work after following the procedures above, or if you are unsure about resetting breakers or replacing fuses yourself, call a qualified independent AC contractor. If the contractor determines the problem is caused by our controller, we reimburse you according to the Energy Partners guarantee.
