Renewable energy is an important part of the diversified energy mix that we use to provide safe and reliable electricity. In fact, we’ve invested about $1 billion in renewable energy over the past 10 years. Additionally, we support customer-owned generation, also known as distributed generation.

As a regulated utility, we have an obligation to maintain a system that provides reliable service in an environmentally responsible way, while keeping our rates fair and affordable for all customers.

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) discussed our filing at its open meeting on Nov. 14. The PSCW’s discussion suggests a significant step forward in sending proper electric rate price signals when a rate order is issued at the end of the year for rates that should be in place by Jan. 1.
