Working and using equipment

Any piece of equipment or object can be dangerous if it comes into contact with a power line. Always stay 10 feet or more away from power lines. Use great care when performing the following activities:

• Operating high-rise equipment or vehicles like dump trucks.
• Guiding loads on cranes and other transportation equipment.
• Using ladders or similar tools.
• Installing gutters or other hardware.

With all of these situations, it is important to have a spotter on the ground whose only job is to make sure you are working a safe distance from power lines.
