Solar for Humanity is an initiative focused on workforce development and community partnerships. Through this program, Habitat for Humanity home rooftops are used to train solar electric photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal installers.
Through partnerships with Habitat for Humanity chapters in Wisconsin, Midwest Renewable Energy Association, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and non-union contractors, we have installed solar PV and solar thermal systems on numerous homes throughout our service territory.
The partnerships help create jobs and a more robust North America Board of Certified Energy Practitioners solar installer base within our service area, educate the general public about solar technologies and energy efficiency, and bring solar power to lower income households. All parties plan to grow and continue this effort to make it the largest renewable energy training partnership in the Midwest.
