Power lines can be knocked down by things like storms and construction accidents. Always assume that all downed power lines are energized and dangerous. Stay away from these lines and tell others to do the same. And when moving away from a power line, shuffle your feet. This motion decreases the voltage that is able to travel through the wire, ground and into you.
