Make sure there is a safety barrier between overhead lines and workers and their equipment. At a minimum, you must stay 10 feet away from high-voltage lines. Power lines with more than 50,000 volts require more than 10 feet.

If you will be working near power lines, contact your locating service to determine the voltage and safe work distances, and to find out if special safety arrangements are required.
